A truck bearing registration number (NL 04-A 3382), with four passengers including the driver which was coming down from Kohima plunged into a 60 feet gorge near Piphema, Saturday.
According to a defence release, the impact of the fall reduced the vehicle to a mangled mash seriously injuring all four passengers who were trapped inside the vehicle.
It also said that a party of 13 Assam Rifles returning from Ghaspani was informed about the ill-fated vehicle for which a quick assessment and efforts were made to rescue the trapped persons.
The rescue operation was also assisted by civilian volunteers.
