PVC bans lottery and gambling

June 29, 2009 | by admin

Padumpukhuri Village Council (PVC) has banned sale of lottery, and any type of gambling within its village jurisdiction. PVC in a joint press statement by its chairman and secretary said that any one found indulging in such activities would be dealt with seriously.
The council also pointed out that despite the Nagaland total prohibition Act, 1989 enforced in the state, it was observed that the sale and abuse of liquor/alcohol was causing chaos and threatening communal harmony.
Taking all this into account, the PVC on the authority vested on them under section 15 of the village and area council Act, 1978 has stated that any person/persons found selling or abusing liquor within its jurisdiction and days and from the date of publication of this notice shall be dealt with and penalized by the council.
