WSKH appeals for farmers
DIMAPUR: To take stock of the farmers affected by drought like situation due to delay of monsoon rain, the Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) led by its president Apeto Assumi and accompanied by other village chiefs toured the Western Sumi region on July 16 and 17. During the visit the team found that rivers, irrigation canals and even ponds and fisheries were completely dried up leaving no means for the farmers to cultivate the fields. It is likely that the situation will get worse and spread further if some measures were not taken in time, stated the WSKH president in a press release. Western Sumi Kukami (village chief) Hoho has appealed to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and his government to take measures to save the drought hit farmers.
