Viswema gets agri-link road, water tank

Agri-link road at Viswema village which was constructed under NREGA scheme 2008-09 was inaugurated by Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Development and SIRD Pangnyu Phom on November 12 and Metsubo Jamir Direcor Rural Development inaugurated water tank –cum- waiting shed at Pukhatsücho on the same day.
The chief guest lauded VDB and village councils for implementing rural development schemes and programme which were meant to narrow down rural-urban gap in the state and exhorted them not to misuse VDB schemes meant for the whole village.
Stating that Viswema village was the third largest village in Nagaland and was considered as a respected village, he called upon villagers to co-operate with present DAN government for more development of the area.
Director, Rural Development Metsubo Jamir in his speech stated that department of Rural Development was proud of Viswema village for implementing the schemes for development of the area with transparency without which it could not be possible.
He also lauded village councils for their tireless work done for the success of the project which was considered as one of the major and big project in Nagaland. He advised village councils to maintain proper reports and records. If fund and schemes were used properly, Viswema could be developed into semi urban/urban area in no time, he added.
Commissioner and Secretary Rural Development Viketol Sakhrie called upon Viswema village to unite together for the development of the area and encouraged them to work towards upliftment of the area. Other highlights of the programme included presentation of ‘Tati’ by Sekedü and party, folk song by Dzüthokhol and party. The function was attended by, Director SIRD, Commissioner & Secretary Agri, ADC Kohima, Deputy Secretary Rural Development, Director Sericulture, SAPO, RD officials, village elders and others.
The chief guest also donated Rs. 1 lakh to Zheri, Rs. 10,000 to folk song group and Rs. 5000 to Tati group. He also donated Rs. 20 lakhs to finish the incomplete works and 100 bundles of CGI to the village.
