Workshop on disaster, risk management

A one day workshop on disaster preparedness and risk management was organised at the directorate of soil and water conservation department in collaboration with the disaster management cell, administrative training institute, Government of Nagaland.
Resource persons were Dr. Hovithal N. Sothu who dwelt on “Basic management of disaster and risk management” and Er. N. Moa Longkumer who spoke on the “Department emergency exit plan”. A mock- drill was also conducted for the benefit of departmental officials at the end of the programme.
During the workshop, the participants were divided into two groups for group discussion. The 1st group discussed on Resources available and 2nd group on vulnerable areas in and around the office compound.
According to K. Khekiho Shohe nodal officer, publicity, directorate of soil and water conservation, resource Persons also gave some critical analysis of the office building and its structure which were fragile that may be noted for rectification in order to avoid major accident during earthquakes and other calamities.
