Neiphiu Rio visits Zoological Park

Chief minister, Neiphiu Rio along with forest minister, MC Konyak, minister for land resources, P. Longon, advisor, sericulture and cooperation Azheto, visited Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar on December 16.
Rio inspected all the ongoing works being taken up under the state plan, SPA and CZA, Govt. of India inside the park complex.
He complimented the forest department on the works and upkeep of animals being kept in captivity for public viewing.
According to a release issued by forest department, Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar was inaugurated on August 28, 2008 with a total area of 176 hectares.
However, the department stated that the park was still under threat from unscrupulous encroachers despite a clarion call given by all Naga tribal Hohos and civil societies to preserve and protect the Park. Chief minister has appealed to the public to visit the park to learn, understand and protect it from all encroachments.
Forest minister also appealed the people to understand that man and animals have to coexist together for future survival of the earth.
