Training ASHAs on safe pregnancy

Training of ASHAs on 6th and 7th modules for Kohima, Sechu and Jakhama block was conducted on February 18.
The five-day training which began on February 14 dwelt on care of expectant women, birth preparedness, knowledge on birth comparison, examination of newborns, taking temperature, measuring weights, importance of exclusive breast feeding etc. Hands on trainings were also incorporated into the training and ASHAs were taken on a field visit to Phesama where they visited two newborns and two expectant women.
Zakietuonuio (ASHA Coordinator), Medolezono Sothu (ASHA Coordinator), T.Asüno (DPHNO) and Neivotuo Kiso (LHV) were the main trainers while Neisevonuo Linyü (DPM) was the facilitator for the training. Dr. L. Ralte, CMO Kohima and Dr. Avino Kire, deputy CMO Kohima, also exhorted and interacted with the trainees on the last day.
To encourage the ASHA, gifts were presented to 6 of the most participative ASHAs in the training. Contraceptive pills, condoms and pregnancy test kits were also given to all the ASHAS.
