DIMAPUR: A memorial stone monolith was erected by all rank and files of Zeliangrong Region, NSCN/GPRN in memory of “legend national” worker late Illoihangbe Hau on April 7 at Bendramai village, Yangkhullen , Senapati district.
A press release issued by NSCN/GPRN Zeliangrong Region stated that late Illoihangba joined the national service in 1959 during the time of NNC/FGN as follower of “Naga national” leaders like late AZ. Phizo, Issac Chishi Swu, Th. Muivah and many Naga leaders and served the “Naga Nation” with sincerity and commitment.
Late Iloihanbe was among the first who went for Alee Command to the then East Pakistan (West Bangal) twice in 1961 and 1963 and to China in 1967. He was awarded the President’s Gallantry Award in 1972 for his bravery.
Late Illoihangbe Hau served as Regional Chairman in 1992-93 and then first CAO of first Zeliangrong Region when the GPRN was approved of a full fledged Region for the Zeliangrong in 1993 till 1994.
Subsequently he served as advisor of the Zeliangrong Region. He was appointed as a Tatar of the GPRN in 2004 then Tatar cum National Judiciary Board (NJB) in 2006 till the time of his demise on February 11, 2008.
The function was attended by A.K. Lungalang, executive member of steering committee, NSCN as chief guest and Raitu Chawang, President, Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) as guest of honour.
In the function, a booklet titled “My Journey for Freedom Movement” a short record and history of late Illoihangbe Hau was released. The booklet was released by the guest of honour Ratu Chawang, President, Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN).
In the function, the chief guest A.K. Lungalang said “I may be senior to him in the NNC, and the Naga National Service but after NNC he (Illoihangbe) was senior to me in NSCN after the infamous Shillong Accord and he is my master. Illoihangbe is literally uneducated but he is traditionally and revolutionary educated. So, he is a man that even I had to learned from, and follow the footsteps in terms of national Service in my life”.
Besides the chief guest, many other dignitaries including K. Chawang, Kilonser, Art & Culture and Tourism,
D. Stephen, CAO/care taker of the Zeliangrong Region, “Kilo secretary” of GPRN, D.G Robert spoke on life history of late Illaoihangbe
Earlier, Rev. H. Zeme pronounced the invocation and benediction by Rev. Nahum.
The programme was enthralled by many traditional performances and special songs from the youth of Ze Baptist Youth Fellowship.
