Archbishop of Imphal Rt.Rev. Dominic Lumon who is also the chairman of CBCI commission for women dedicated a newly constructed Infant Jesus Church, belonging to the Diphupar area Kyong Catholic community at 5th mile, Model village here as main celebrant Wednesday.
In his homely, the Archbishop Rt. Rev. Dominic Lumon said a building was a fellowship based on Jesus and built on Jesus. Quoting several passages from the Scriptures relating to temple, the Archbishop said “We are God’s temple” and that “We praise and thank God through the temple”.
Also, referring to the saying “A family that prays together, stays together”, Rt. Rev. Lumon called upon parishioners to intensify their prayers for peace in the land.
Pointing out the alarming sex ratio of the country, the Archbishop, who is also the chairman of CBCI commission for women emphasized that women should not be treated as weaker section of the society but treated equally without any prejudice.
Earlier, the Archbishop led prayers of blessings for the new church.

The new Church building was constructed at an estimated cost of over `23 lakh after several years of praying and planning. It took less than two years to complete the building. The Diphupar area Kyong Catholic community comprises of families from Diphupar-A, Diphupar-B, Sugar Mill, 5th Mile Model village, Sovima village, Seitheke Basa and other adjoining areas.
The Church was initially started by some faithful as a family home visitation and prayer meeting in the year 1989.
