Kohima Baptist Pastors Fellowship (KBPF) has reiterated its stand with Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI’s) on shops remaining closed on Sundays in Kohima. KBPF said that as per KCCI rule, one day holiday was necessary for the business community and also cited that Nagaland being a Christian state discourages believers shopping on Sundays. It further requested general public and shopkeepers to cooperate and close all transactions on the seventh day of the week.
With regard to power supply at Kohima, KBPF lamented on erratic power supply especially during the service hours on Sundays and appealed to the power department to provide regular power supply, at least during devotional service Sundays for the convenience of all the worshipers as all churches cannot afford generators.
While objecting on conducting exams or interviews on Sundays, KBPF appealed the responsible authority to chalk out dates in such a way that it would not coincide with Sunday.
KBPF also requested all churches and well wishers to support the fellowship through prayer.
