Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio Monday announced that two administrative headquarters under Kiphire district have been approved for up gradation from SDO(C) to ADC while addressing a public gathering at Pungro local ground.
Rio said, ‘parliamentary secretary CAWD T. Torechu is one amongst the most confident person in his government and added, though ill health he could bring much visible work in the ground which is not an easy task and express appreciation’.
Asserting that his government would not hesitate to speak for the Naga cause and her history at any given opportunity, the chief minister said his lecture at UK University on Naga history which Indian government has asked a copy of it because it was a fact and no one can deny the unique identity of the Nagas.
According to Rio Blacks and Whites acknowledged the uniqueness of the Nagas and because of which Inner Line Permit (ILP) was being issued even to the Indians visiting Naga hills.
“We are all unique but the problem lies we don’t acknowledge one another of our uniqueness because of which fighting still prevail amongst within us’.
The chief minister reiterated that two fold of the Nagas were living in India, spread over four states, and one fold of in Myanmar, which, he said itself, was a problem before the Nagas.
He described demanding of statehood was opening up of another Pandora box and warn the people of that they would be the victim of their own creation.
Sharing seriousness on Naga issue the chief Minister said, ‘Unity and reconciliation should be there both underground and over ground so that if not independent at least there should be promotion in Naga cause to keep the Naga Identity intact and it depend solely on the Nagas and not on Indians’.
Rio declared the establishment of two new BDO Khonsa and Longmatra in addition to up gradation of ADC to Pungro and Seyouchung from SDO(C)
He also inaugurated SDO (C) office building, Indoor badminton stadium & G.A rest house.
State minister for planning and co-ordination T.R. Zeliang, who also spoke on the occasion, said the present government was giving special focus to the backward region and border areas and asked the people to get the blessing of this instead of demanding for statehood.
“Demand of separate statehood by your people will pull you back from developmental activities,” Zeliang said.
Parliamentary secretary CAWD T. Torechu expressed gratitude to the chief minister for giving special attention to the people of the region.
He asserted “people who were saying they would break away from Nagas are the people who were lazy and uneducated. He reiterated that “Nagas are one and only one.”
The chief minister was accompanied by Dr Nihoshe Parliamentary secretary industries and commerce, Neiba Konyak Parliamentary secretary youth resources and sports, S. Heno parliamentary secretary printing and stationeries and host of officers.
D.C Kiphire, Tridibesh Roy chaired the programme while YTC president Thsesong welcomed the gathering. Dr. Tinojungshi proposed vote of thanks.
Cultural display by Myanmar Naga, Chomi village, Mimi Village, Zanger village, Pungro town, village and Fakim village were other highlights of the programme.
