Chizami Youth Society held its 43rd cultural day today with MLA and advisor for art & culture, new & renewable energy, science & technology, Deo Nukhu as chief guest.
Addressing the event marked by cultural competitions, Deo commended on the performances of the youth and said the rich traditional practices should be preserved.
Stating the need to keep the colourful attires, he stressed that one must maintain the originality in design and pattern in the process of improving upon the traditional dress.
MLA further said that tradition was not only about cultural dress and custom but ‘integrity of character, honesty and truthfulness’ were the major part of Naga tradition.
He urged that youth must know their mother tongue because one’s local dialect was also part of culture and that one should not be confused with culture and tradition.
Stating that the future belonged to the youth, he noted that leadership was also in the hands of the youth. Folk dance and folk song competitions were held as part of the cultural day.
