Hymn book in English, Nagamese, Hindi

After five years of its establishment, United Baptist Churches Association North East India (UBCA NEI) released its Church hymnal book, Sunday at United Baptist Church Balijan.

The hymnal book containing selected 109 hymns in English, 102 hymns in Nagamese and 37 hymns in Hindi language would be used as a common hymn book for more than 40 communities speaking different languages under UBCA.

The hymnal book was formally released by Er. Khetoi Awomi, executive engineer PHED, Dimapur. Quoting Psalms 98, Awomi said one can not only praise God by praying but by singing hymns.

He also narrated instances where sick people were healed even while singing in praise of God. Lauding the music committee members, Awomi urged the congregation to not just sing for the sake of singing but to sing with their heart. He also donated Rs. 25,000 to the UBCA NEI, Rs. 10,000 to Balijan Church, and Rs. 5000 to Sunday school.

Highlighting the publication of hymnal book, Rev. Dr. N. Khashito Aye, secretary mission and evangelism UBCA said after series of meetings, the music committee members could successfully publish the book though initially it faced financial constraints. The total cost of publishing the hymn book was Rs. 2.14 lakhs.

Aye stated that with the hymn book, which contain responsive reading would solve inconveniences faced by the members of the church who speak different languages. 

Sunday also coincided with foundation day of UBC Balijan Sunday school where children presented songs, presented Bible scriptures and choreography marking the occasion.

Rev. L. Hevuto Awomi, executive secretary UBCA NEI exhorted the congregation from the book of Mathew 19. He urged parents not to stop children from attending church activities but to encourage them for their spiritual growth.  Earlier, Rev. Y.T Lotha president UBCA administered the hymnal dedication.  

It may be mentioned that UBCA NEI has 16 churches under it and United Baptist Church Midland is slated to be affiliated on February 26.
