Old Jalukie Village Council (OJVC) and Jalukie Pumling Nko (JPN) have cautioned all settlers under its jurisdiction to abstain from illegal/unauthorized sales and buying of land.
Chairman OJVC, Hainkieng in a press release stated that any individual/group/village found indulging in such illegitimate act would be dealt with strict penalty as per the agreement/customary law of Jalukie village council.
The two apex organizations also warned indiscriminate land buyers to be vigilant while undertaking “parley” with those people and to ascertain facts from the two organizations before taking the “ultimate concord”.
The release also said that anyone who goes against the notification would be doing so at their own risk.
The organizations also appealed all responsible social organizations (NGO’s) and head of departments, to intimate them with matters related to land issues and traditional practices prior to undertaking any project or plan in the specified land to avoid any misunderstanding in the future.
It further said indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and destruction of its eco-system through extraction of trees, stones, reckless hunting, fishing, excessive collection of wild vegetables etc. would also be seriously dealt with as per the rules so as to up keep the ecological balance for the welfare of one and all.
Meanwhile, the organizations informed the public under Peren district that the entire hilly tract of old Jalukie village area has been permanently declared ‘Conservation Area’ and therefore, any activities that goes against the conservational norms would be treated with appropriate punishment without any categorization.
Further, Whole Jalukie Village Council (WJVC) has notified that selling and buying of land by individuals or groups within Jalukie land and its offshoot villages shall be prohibited for which action would be taken against the offenders.
WJVC chairman, Heizieying Mpom, in a press release stated the traditional boundary of Jalukie land, for the knowledge of the general public was Reket Bamjang, Ntaureu, Mpeuki, Mungleu, Tepaki, Rebane N-guo, Buizaireu, Tecauki, Mungleu and Temaki to the west, Temaki (Dhansiri river) to the north, Simreutu Nlauzai, Nbinreu, Reketbamjang to the south and Simreutu, Nkwakreu and Temaki (North Frontier Railway) to the east.
The chairman informed that anyone or group found selling and buying of land within these jurisdictions without formal permission and consent from the demarcated land authority shall be doing so at their own risk and penalized without any prior information.
