Duped employees of the Society for Child & Women Empowerment (SCWE) staged a protest demonstration outside DC office compound, Dimapur Monday morning in connection with the recent case of duping applicants under the scheme ‘The Rising East’ by SCWE CMD Amit Kumar Singh and HR manager Raja Chandan Kunal.
They have demanded that the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case be “immediately” removed from probing the case and a superior officer take over the case.
The duped employees stated that the investigation taken up so far was not “satisfactory” and as such a fraudulent case investigation could not be concluded in a short span of two days as the same involved thousands of people who have been duped of 27.4 lakhs in Nagaland and over 2.5 crores from the Northeast region.
The protestors also alleged that the accused have reportedly handed the money collected to one P. Kalita but no probe or action was taken by IO of Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) Dimapur on the issue.
It was also alleged that the IO, GRPS, Dimapur, “misled” the employees by “continuously” stating that the accused were brought to Dimapur only for five days though there was no mention of such a thing on papers from Bureau of Investigation Economic Offences (BIEO), Guwahati.
Despite an FIR, the IO of the case has not even enquired as to how the applicants were appointed by the society or sought their appointment letters for verification, the nature and system of depositing money to the society, they have alleged the same in a memorandum submitted to deputy commissioner and superintendent of police, Dimapur through the additional deputy commissioner and additional superintendent of police since the former two were out of station.
Around forty people comprising of 28 employees and applicants participated in the protest demonstration. One of the members of SCWE employee association said that the protest had been organized to demand the return of the applicants’ money amounting up to 27.40 lakhs, to compensate the “selected applicants” for the grants and award befitting punishment to the accused.
The duped employees have appealed to responsible administrations to meet their demands by June 31, failing which, SCWE employees along with the applicants would go for further agitation.
