Dimapur district excise personnel under the command of inspector S. Khevito Swu recovered 80 cases of canned beer concealed below a load of coal from two Imphal bound LP Trucks after a chase at Chumukedima NH-29 on August 1.
In this connection, the two-drivers/accused persons namely Nameirakpam Jayenta Singh (MN-01 8932) and Toijam Bobo Singh (NL-01 G 0813) have been arrested and further investigation was on.
Dimapur excise personnel manning Chumukedima excise check gate also recovered 8 cases of whisky from a Tadubi bound Maruti car bearing regd. no. NL-02C 0101 on August 2 and arrested the accused/driver of the vehicle Issac Zho. A case has been registered under the NLTP Act 1989.
Further, Dimapur excise personnel manning new field excise check gate recovered 29 cases of assorted IMFL and beer from two vehicles, one Maruti 800 (NL-06-2963) and one Maruti Alto (NL-07-9736) on July 31 and August 2 respectively.
In these connection, two accused persons namely Inato Chishi and N. Atsung have been arrested and penalized as per relevant sections of NLPT Act 1989. The value of the seized liquor is estimated at about Rs. 5, 00,000 in the illegal market.
