September 14, 2012 | by admin

A preliminary assessment study of Tzüla (Dikhu) river ecology was conducted within the protected area of Tzüla Green Zone Project and Nanga Greener Zone from September 10-13.

Presenting the report on the preliminary assessment study, Dr. Limatemjen assistant professor Kohima Science College said the river condition was conducive for increasing fish population, however, in order to allow migration of fish from down-stream to Dikhu river, it was important to check the pollution of the river.

He also stated that the traditional spawning sites within the protected zone should be preserved.
The assessment study which was being funded by Foundation for Ecological Study (FES) and facilitated by NGZPMC, TGZPMC and the village councils of Longsa and Ungma aims at understanding the ecology of Tzüla river.

The study would cover areas located both up-stream and down-stream of the Green Zone Project and further studies would be conducted in later part of the year when the water level recedes.
