Mokokchung- Zunheboto road neglected: Akuluto Range Students’ Union

Akuluto Range Students’ Union (ARSU) has appealed to the authority in-charge to repair the road stretching from Mokokchung to Zunheboto via Akuluto as it has been lying neglected for a long time.

A release issued by ARSU president Ghoupu Kinimi questioned the authority in-charge of maintaing the road by pointing out that “no initiatives” were taken to repair the said road.

According to ARSU, the road maintained by Border Road Organization (BRO) has potholes in several pockets running one and half feet deep and has not only damaged several low-clearance vehicles but impossible for light vehicles to ply on the road.

Due to bad road conditions from Mokokchung to Tuensang, all goods laden trucks have been using Zunheboto road via Suruhoto making the condition even worse, said the union, and informed that further downpour would block the road completely.

Meanwhile, the union also highlighted that the road between Lumami and Akuluto was the worst affected.
ARSU while stating that it had raised its concerns over the pathetic road conditions as it would “reflect poorly on accessibility” to Nagaland University located in Lumami, urged the authority in-charge to look into the matter at the earliest.

Failing which, ARSU stated that it would be compelled to take its own course of action.
