Chang Students’ Union Kohima (CSUK) has extended its support to the Confederation of Chang Students Union (CCSU)’s open letter to state chief minister Neiphiu Rio in support of Nungsang Lemba Chang, a retired civil servant as NPSC candidature.

CSUK president W. B. Mongko Chang and general secretary N.Y.John Chang said no one from Chang tribe has ever been appointed as a member of NPSC since statehood.
CSUK while appealing the appointing authority stated that Nungsang Lemba Chang, the Governor’s Gold Medalist for distinguish service in the year 1997 has a vast experiences in administrative services and fulfilled all criteria to be appointed of NPSC member. CSUK felt that appointing Chang as a member in the commission would not be regretted rather it would benefit for educated Nagas and the commission as well.

CSUK while supporting its apex body (CCSU)’s letter requested the state government and civil societies to support Nungsang Lemba Chang’s candidature.
CSUK reminded that Chang tribe has forwarded a candidate to be appointed as NPSC member several times but was deprived by successive state government. It said the candidature of Chang has been recommended by various Eastern Naga apex organizations and cautioned that in the event of failure for the fourth time to allot the opportunity to Chang tribe would never be tolerated by backward student’s community.
