State reeling under power shortage

December 5, 2012 | by admin

Department of power Tuesday disclosed that Nagaland continue to reel under power shortage due to   reduction in power allocation by the North Eastern Regional Load Dispatch Centre (NERLDC).

In a press release, additional chief engineer K.Miachieo pointed out that as against the power requirement of 110 MW at peak load hours from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Nagaland gets only 70 MW of power. Further, Miacheio disclosed that against the power requirement of 80 MW during off-peak load hours, the availability was only to the tune of 45 MW.

He said the power department was therefore compelled to impose coordinated load shedding all over the state to the extent of 8 to 9 hours daily. He said this is being done in order to avoid total power shutdown  as regulated by NERLDC, Shillong in case of any over drawal from the allocated power as above.
