Training on backyard poultry production and vaccination programme at Inbung village

A training programme on ‘Backyard poultry production’ was conducted at Inbung village, near Athibung of Peren district on December 4. The training programme was organized by ICAR –Nagaland Centre, Jharnapani under the tribal sub plan of poultry seed project and was facilitated by Kuki Baptist Association.

About 80 farmers participated in the day long training program conducted by a team of experts, lead by Dr. M.K. Patra, Scientist (A.R.). Further, a mass vaccination program was carried out and about 300 poultry birds and 100 pigs were vaccinated against the ranikhet and swine fever diseases, respectively.

The feed supplements and de-worming were also given to improve the health status of different livestock species in free of cost.

Dr. Bidyut C. Deka, joint director, ICAR Nagaland Centre appreciated the efforts taken by the animal science team for conducting such program at remote villages in Nagaland and hoped that such program will create awareness and help to improve the nutritional security through livestock and poultry production.
