In a shocking incident, a ten year old boy was brutally beaten up in Zunheboto on March 27 over a petty issue, reported Sumi Zumulhu, a Sumi daily.

The 10 year old boy, son of Henito studying in class 6 was allegedly beaten up by Aketo Achumi, 25, son of V Hevukhu Achumi of Phishumi village under VK Area in Zunheboto district, currently residing at Alahuto Colony.

The incident occurred when a nephew of Aketo Achumi the same age as the victim stole a cell phone and asked the victim and two others to accompany him to exchange the phone with a bicycle. While on their way, the SIM card was thrown away in order to avoid receiving calls from Apeto.

After coming home, the victim told his mother about the exchange, upon which his mother called Apeto’s nephew and asked him to revert the exchange.

Accordingly, the cell phone was returned to Aketo. Later, Aketo went to victim’s place around 6 p.m. and requested the parents to let the boy accompany him for few minutes to search for the lost SIM card.

However, around 8 pm. the boy was found crawling, unable to walk due to the injuries inflicted on his legs and the rest of his bodies. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital.

The victim’s parents then lodged an FIR against Aketo Achumi who was immediately arrested.
According to the information received, Aketo beat up the ten-year old boy using both his bare hands and a stick. This was also confessed by Aketo at the police station.

According to family members, the boy was traumatized by the incident. A case has been registered against Aketo Achumi and the victim was discharged from hospital Friday afternoon.
