The 8th Nagaland Catholic Women Association (NCWA) convention is underway at St Peter’s Parish Kiphire. More than 700 delegates from nine tribes across Nagaland are participating in the convention which began Friday under the theme ‘In Him all people will put their hope’.
John Tsilise, ADC Aboi, gracing the convention as the cultural chief guest on Saturday, called upon the womenfolk not only to be a good Catholic but also a good Naga.
He said this type of gathering was an opportunity to share and grow together as good citizens.
Sharing his concern on degradation of Naga culture, the chief guest said people should preserve culture so as to maintain cultural identity.
He however said maintaining cultural practices like folk song, dance etc., do not mean people have to go back to the of early days but practice what was healthy for the society, adding, cultural practices should not contradict Christian principles.
He also called upon Catholic women to have unity so that Catholic Church in Nagaland can grow spiritually and socially.
The day’s event was marked by cultural songs and dances.
General secretary, NCWA and treasurer also gave the report of NCWA, 2010-2012 to the gathering.
