Coordination meet in Changtongya

A coordination meeting of administration, police, village councils, political party leaders, Church AND NGO leaders of Changtongya sub-division including Chuchuyimlang village under 22 – Arakakong area constituency was held on January 22 under the chairmanship of SDO (C), Changtongya in connection with the ensuing state assembly elections, 2013. Chairing the meeting, M.S. Thangpong, SDO (C), Changtongya distributed copies of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and read out its salient features.

He informed about the new Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, especially relating to election expenditure monitoring including seizure of cash and appointment of an additional “Expenditure agent” by the candidates.

He also urged security personnel deployed during elections for assisting the district administration and police authorities to inspire confidence in the “impartiality” of the election machinery among the common electorate.

He further requested the community and political party leaders to reciprocate and avoid any untoward incidents.
Lamenting on the increasing role of criminality and muscle power during elections, he appealed to the village elders, GBs, Ward authorities, NGO leaders and political party leaders to be “good and responsible” leaders and give full cooperation to administration and police authorities for conduct of peaceful, free and fair elections. 

O.C. police station, Changtongya also appealed to the community and political party leaders to cooperate with police authorities in maintaining law and order especially during elections.

He also informed to submit the licensed arms in adherence to the order of the D.C. Mokokchung to deposit their arms to the nearest police station.
