Railway Bazar Area Permanent Residents’ Union (RBAPRU), Dimapur has expressed strong resentment over the government’s calamities grant 2010-11 given to them and termed it as a “mockery” of the plight of the victims by the authority.
In a statement, RBAPRU chairman Hiekedaung Zeliang and Railway Bazar Area GB Nading Haining said that residents who had claimed loss of properties ranging from Rs. 50,000 to over one lakh rupees have been granted just Rs. 812 per household and alleged that Rs. 112 was also deducted from the amount by “D.C. staffs.”
Terming the grant as an insult to the victims, RBAPRU asked whether receiving Rs. 700 as calamity grants per household was “justified” or not even after “running” from pillar to post for two years.
