Campaign on clean election

A seminar under NBCCs’ clean election campaign was held under the theme “My birthright” in Phesama village panchayat hall, Phesama on February 10, initiated by Phesama Christian Youth Union (PCYU).

Dr. Hovithal Sothu, convener Clean Election Campaign highlighted on the RPA 1951, under section 123 while Vikuo Rhi, youth secretary, NBCC, briefed the gathering on the working guidelines of clean election drafted by NBCC.

Village council members, VDBs, women organization, student organization, representatives from different denominations, Church leaders and Village elders attended the programme.

Meanwhile, ADC Longkhim held a meeting with VCC, GBs and DBs at at DB hall, Longkhim on February 5 and later at Chare on February 6. During both the meeting, ADC gave a platform to the United Sangtam Baptist Lithroti Ashimukhong (USBLA) to advocate NBCC clean election campaign.

Further, the same campaign will be organized for Kiphire District at Hopongkyu memorial hall by USBLA on February 14. In addition, USBLA will be organizing prayer walk, fasting and prayer programme for the upcoming election.

SOSU for free and fair election: Shena Old Students’ Union (SOSU) has decided to uphold its stance in propagating free and fair election in the ensuing general election.

The union resolved not to allow any other power to rampant the rights of people within its jurisdiction, stating that the executive body, office bearers would educate on the right of an individual for uplift of society.

Lotha Khel Council, Kukidolong Village: Lotha Khel (A Khel) Council Kukidolong Village held a general meeting on February 8 and discussed on issues related to village welfare and on the forthcoming State Assembly election.

Kehousetuo Chakruno, chairman, Lotha Khel in a release stated that in order to ensure conduct of free and fair election especially on the polling day, the council resolved not to allow any outside force/elements to interfere or disturb within its jurisdiction.
