NSCN factions caution public

With tensions rising in the post-poll period and on the eve counting day, NSCN factions have warned the public to desist from carrying fire-arms and resorting to firing so as to maintain peace and tranquility.

NSCN (I-M) CAO Sumi Region Heshito Awomi speaking this Correspondent over the phone cautioned those who were “roaming with firearms” and said they would be “strictly dealt with if caught” in order to maintain peace and security in the region.

He also clarified that NSCN (I-M) cadres were “never involved” in any of the shooting incidents in Zunheboto and the group was concerned about maintaining a congenial atmosphere in the area.

Meanwhile, NSCN (K) too has issued strict directives through its regional secretary Tosukha K. Zhimo. He cautioned persons “possessing arms and resorting to blank fires” if caught would have to face “own risk” in case of any eventuality(s). He also disclosed that NSCN (K) cadres had “no hand at recent shootings at Zunheboto town and its surroundings.”

GPRN/NSCN sources however mentioned that their cadres were fired upon on Tuesday by some unidentified gunmen on a Maruti Gypsy.

GPRN/NSCN Leacy Satoi said one of its cadres had a “miraculous escape” in the attack. He maintained that GPRN/NSCN cadres “never retaliated” and went ahead without firing a single shot so as to avoid exchange of fire.
