Phek District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on March 11 where DC Phek, Anoop Khinchi chaired the meeting.
DC asked the developmental departments such as agriculture, horticulture, fisheries etc., to come up with a district development plan and to bring out projects and schemes for long term benefit of the public in the district.
He further called upon members to avail the opportunity of video conferencing which would be more economical as well as time saving to interact with the higher ups of the respective departments in Kohima for undertaking projects and other welfare schemes.
Earlier project director DRDA, Thungchamo Khuvung gave a presentation on departmental activities of DRDA Phek.
WOKHA: DPDB meeting of Wokha district was held on March 11 at DC’s Conference Hall Wokha. The meeting was chaired by ADC Wokha, Sotsula.
The meeting began with presentation of HIV and AIDS scenario in the district by Lichumo Odyuo, district project officer, District AIDS Prevention and Control Union (DAPCU), Wokha.
The survey was initiated in 2005 under the office of CMO Wokha. The project was aimed at prevention and control of HIV and AIDS infection in the district, he said.
He further disclosed that infection rate in 2011-12 increased amongst IDU mainly because of proximity with Assam’s Merapani, where drug is easily accessible at an affordable rate.
The present status of HIV and AIDS infection is 146 cases out of the tested blood, he said. He also appraised about the various facilities available for HIV and AIDS related programmes in all CHC and PHC in the district, and different programmes undertaken by DAPCU and appealed to the heads of offices to lend a helping hand in times of need.
The board also approved the request of DAPCU to allow them to attend DPDB meeting quarterly.
Later, president Lotha Student Union and chairperson, Kyong Eloe Hoho voiced their resentment on the post-poll violence in the district.
The chairperson said the administration was doing everything possible to normalize the situation and further assured all possible means to contain the situation.
She also called upon offices and NGOs to cooperate in order to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the district.
