The creators of a History Channel mini series on the Bible have denied reports that the character of Satan intentionally resembles President Barack Obama.
Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, the creators of the mini series ‘The Bible’, have dismissed what they termed as ‘foolish’ rumours, stating that such false reports are designed to try and discredit the beauty of the story of The Bible, Fox News reports.
According to Burnett and Downey, Satan-playing actor Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor and has previously played parts in several Biblical epics, which included Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected U.S. President.
The shows’ creators further said that they have nothing but respect and love for President Obama, who they added, is a fellow Christian.
The History Channel has also set out to put an end to the rumors, saying the show aims to feature a diverse cast of respected actors, adding that it is unfortunate that such rumours have been made concerning the president.
The channel further said that the show is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history of the Bible.
The reports arose after scores of viewers took to Twitter to note a resemblance between the show’s Satan character and President Barack Obama following a recent episode.
