Department of economics and statistics organized a programme to welcome its parliamentary secretary economics and statistics, excise and legal metrology (LM) and consumer protection (CT), T. Torechu at the office conference hall, Tuesday.
The parliamentary secretary in his brief address, thanked the department for organizing the programme and said though the department’s income was less, the achievements of the department reflected the sincerity and dedication of the officers and the staff of the department.
Torechu also appealed for collective effort to improve the position of the department and called on the officers to let their actions be more visible than words.
Highlighting the activities of the department, director DSE Y. Sacheo Ovung, said since its establishment in 1964, the department has improved to a certain extent and that the department was functioning in the state, district and block level.
Ovung also informed that the construction of five offices in various districts was underway and that the department hopes to see them functioning soon.
Earlier, additional secretary, Kevileno Angami delivered the welcome address, while deputy director R. Kronu proposed the vote of thanks.
