Rhondemo A. Kikon, son of K. Arhomo Lotha, residence of Dimapur and presently studying 6th year medical course at Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timisoara, Romania attended the 8th edition of Leiden International Medical Student Conference (LIMSC).
Rhondemo got selected to attend the conference which was billed as one of the largest student conferences in Europe hosted by the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) and organized by Medical and Bio-Medical Students from March 13 to 17 at Leiden University, The Netherlands.
According to Rhondemo, 200 active medical and bio-medical students from top institutions from 40 different countries like Norway, Denmark, Germany, Italy, China, Japan, India and Netherlands presented their research and project proposals ranging from stem cell research, neurosurgery and multimodal imaging.
Rhondemo was adjudged the winner in the public health session and also the third position in the overall best oral presentation and research and was awarded certificate and cash prize in Euro.
He presented a papers and a power point based on his recent research project on ‘Retrospective study on the prevalence of tuberculosis amongst the indigenous tribes living at the Indo-Myanmar border’ covering Longwa village and Mon Town in 2012 in collaboration with Medecins Sans Frontieres.
