Thomas calls for changes in system of functioning

Independent MLA from 39 Sanis A/C, N. Thomas Lotha Thursday called for changes in the system of functioning related to various government departments and other areas in 39 Sanis A/C in order to bring the area to the forefront. 
To change the present system of functioning, the MLA said he was prepared to even go down to the lowest level, and at the same time, urged the government employees and officers to be sincere in their work. 
He said funds meant for the public should reach the intended persons and cautioned vested interest individuals trying to lay hands on public fund would be thoroughly checked. 
Thomas said this while speaking at the thanksgiving service on his success to the election to the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly held at GHS playground, Sanis. 
Pointing out that monthly allocation like CGI sheets, kerosene, rice, sugar, etc,. meant for the village do not reach the common people, he reminded the mammoth gathering that he would set up a monitoring and vigilance committee to check discrepancy. 
According to Thomas, the committee would comprise of pastors, village elders, GBs and village council. 
Thomas also said the issue of landownership was a major obstacle for various agencies while carrying out development activities in the area. For which, he urged the people to do away with the issues of landownership so as to carry out development activities for the benefit of the people of 39 A/C.
“No issue of landownership should arise while taking up development activities in the area”, he added. 
The MLA also stated that since he was now the guardian and leader of the area, he would not compromise with anyone while carrying out development in the area. 
Further thanking the people for reposing their faith in him, he urged the people to continue to have the same faith in him. 
“Though I am not a minister or parliamentary secretary, we have lot of things to be done for the betterment of our area, so have faith in me”, Thomas added. 
The MLA said that he has already planned many developmental programmes and activities for the area.
To execute this programmes, he urged the people not to be swept away by rumors, but continue to extend their support in him. 
Earlier, speaking at the function, Dr. John Murry urged the people to extend their cooperation, respect and use the MLA for developing the area. 
“We have elected our leader, and so there is only one MLA in 39 A/C, there is no ex-MLA or minister”, he added and appealed to the gathering not to think for individual benefit but the whole area. 
On the occasion, pastor Lotsu Baptist Church, Rev. Zaremo conducted a blessing prayer for the newly elected MLA. 
The MLA, dignitaries and the gathering were welcomed by SDO (C) Sanis, Phuleshe K. Yepthomi. 
Earlier, at the thanksgiving service held at his native village, Lakhuti village on Wednesday, the MLA said that he would execute the works which he had committed to the villagers earlier during his declaration.
Stating that election was not the end of the world, he said even those who worked against him in the recently concluded election would also enjoy the “benefit” under his “shelter”.
