In an historic event, two major tribes of Nagaland, ie., Chakasang’s of Pfutseromi village and Angami’s of Khwuno Thevomia ‘A khel’ of Khonoma village renewed their age old ties by unveiling a monolith and organizing a friendship feast on April 12.
According to an official bulletin, the main venue of the celebration was held at Zanu Keditheza (Zanu’s court yard) at Pfutseromi Village.
The unveiling of the historic friendship monolith was done by Dr. Ruungutuo Zinyu, president of Khonoma Thevomia Union, Nagaland.
Zekotso Mero chaired the function and Rev L. Ritse pastor Pfutseromi village Baptist Church read out the scripture and prayed before unveiling the monolith.
A mass friendship feast was held after the ceremony which was followed by a customary procession by visiting Khwuno Thevomia.
Right after the procession, a meeting of both the parties was held, which was chaired by commissioner & secretary, IPR, M. K. Mero, ITS. In the meeting, a joint release of booklet/ brochure on renewal of age old ties between the two parties led by Kharu Ritse, VCC of Pfutseromi village and Dolhunyu Chasie VCC of Khonoma village were performed. Short speeches were delivered by co-conveners of the core committee on renewal of age old ties of both the parties, secretary home department, Wepretso Mero of Pfutseromi village and Ako Whiso Kuotso, proprietor CD King School, Jotsoma of Thevomia of Khonoma.
Speeches on behalf of Khwuno Thevoma were delivered by Dr. Ruungutuo, president, Thevoma union and Dolhunyu Chasie, VCC of Khonoma village.
Zulhitso Medo, (Retd) DPRO gave a speech on behalf of Pfutseromi village.
Kedoungupe Ritse, chairman APMC, Pfutsreo delivered the vote of thanks and the benediction was pronounced by Kewezolo Mero, pastor, Nepali Baptist Church, Phek town.
