Receiving numerous complaints against land encroachment in and around district hospital Kiphire (DHK), deputy commissioner Kiphire, Kesonyu Yhome IAS held a co-ordination meeting with the land owners of DHK at the office chamber of medical superintendent Kiphire, Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by district administration and superintendent of police. Deputy commissioner, who is also the chairman of DHK, told the gathering that the district administration had received complaint against land encroachment from the department and that it was time not to sit “idle” but to find a way out to solve the issue.
As per record, eleven land owners have been compensated in the year 1977 @ Rs. 2000 per acre while the government has given Rs. 50,000 in the year 1977 for 25 acres of land as per sketch map for 25 bedded hospital, said DC
However today it has reduced to around five acres, he added. He assured that the administration would study the matter seriously and see as to what could be done and write to the government and act according to the directive of the government.
He asked the gathering not to take it negatively if the administration acted as per the directive of the government, but to extend their support.
Sharing his concern, Dr. Kibang DIO who chaired the program asked, “Without land how can there be development” and added, “If the hospital is developed, the only beneficiaries would be the citizens of Kiphire and asked the gathering to extend maximum co-operation to solve the land issue”.
Some of the land owners present at the meeting said that the department promised to put boundary around the land few years back but to no avail, and justified that for this reason, they were not “giving the land”.
The land owners stated that it was the fault of the government for giving permit to those individuals settled in the land.
