Rengma students’ union (RSU), the apex student body Monday visited violence-displaced Western Rengma people of Chokihola block Karbi Anlong district Assam as a goodwill mission.
The six team mebers was led by acting president RSU Caleb Magh. Speaking to this correspondent, the team said they visited the place to get first hand information relating to the prevailing situation and also extended first aid to the affected people.
The team llso visited Diphu and had a consultative meeting with Karbi students’ association and Karbi human rights watch.
During the meeting, RSU team appealed to the Karbi students’ association (KSA) to take initiative to withdraw the ultimatum served to Rengma people by Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KLPT).
RSU member said the KSA has assured its full cooperation and support to solve the present imbroglio amicably in the interest of both the communities.
RSU team further informed that as a joint peace mission, KSA and Western Rengma Students’ Union would visit the affected areas on June 18.
