Parliamentary secretary for power, Kipili Sangtam visited Wokha Friday and inspected the main power distribution station Wokha and 132/33 KV, 10 MVA sub-station at Niropen colony.
During an interaction with the officials and staff, E.E (Electrical), Wokha, Er. Abenthung Ngullie, briefed the parliamentary secretary about the encroachment of the power house which was the nerve centre of distribution system of Wokha district and the designated quarters by the land owners.
He informed the parliamentary secretary that the encroachment has created “immense hardship” and difficulties for the department to carry out maintenance work and to meet the public demands.
Er. Abenthung informed that there were more than 7,000 consumers under Wokha division however due to shortage of manpower the department was facing lot of problems thus effecting the revenue collection and line maintenance.
Pointing out that operation and maintenance materials were not readily available due to which public complaints could not be attended on time Er. Abenthung requested the parliamentary secretary and the department concern to take into consideration the requirements.
The E.E also requested for allotment of new vehicle as the two pool vehicles attached to the division were “beyond repairable”.
After spot verification the parliamentary secretary directed the E.E (Electrical) to take up the matter to the district administration for immediate intervention for early settlement.
Asserting that the department could not function in this manner, Kipili asked E.E (Electrical) to inform the government on the outcome of the same for further necessary. The parliamentary secretary also donated 20 (twenty) numbers of Street Lights.
Earlier, the parliamentary secretary visited small and medium hydro project site of Doyang stage III, IV, V and VI (Philimi Village), accompanied by secretary power Yanger, SE (Civil) Circle Er.V.Nakhro, SE (Electrical) Er. R.W Odyuo, E.E (Gen) Kohima Er. Penrithung Yanthan, E.E,Hydel Kohima Er.N.C.Tewari, MLA and chairman NHL Er. Picto Shohe, ADC Atoizu Jamithung Lotha, elders of Philimi village and NPF Central leaders.
During a meeting near Tishi Bridge, the village elders while assuring full co-operation and support during its implementation urged the parliamentary secretary to take up the stage III project at the earliest considering its feasibility.
Addressing the gathering, Kipili Sangtam expressed gratitude to the land owners for showing their willingness and interest in implementing the proposed project. He assured to take up the matter and discuss the same at the highest level.
Kipili also emphasized on the need to exploit the available power potential saying that Nagaland State was still dependent on other state as far as power was concerned.
Secretary power, Yanger, who also spoke during the meeting, asked the public to extend support and cooperate with the department so that the department could implement the development activities effectively.
It may be mentioned that, Wokha Division covers whole of Wokha District including Tseminyu and Poghoboto Area.
