Dismissing state BJP spokesman K.James Vizo as an “NPF apologist”, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) slammed his “pathetic statements” in ridiculing its demand for president’s rule and for lauding chief minister Neiphiu Rio in “managing the affairs of the state even with empty coffers” and wondered “if Rio is his bread and butter”.
NPCC media cell, said NPF government had believed it could ride the tiger and control it; but after ten years of its rule, the state economy was in shambles, finances in a mess, deepening tribalism, widening gap between haves and haves-not, absence of security and law and order out of gear and “ still Rio hasn’t figured out how to dismount the beast”.
Taking on the state BJP that former prime minister A.B. Vajpayee had cleared the deficit left behind by the previous Congress government, media cell asked how was it that when NPF-led DAN began on a clean slate, it is now with a deficit of Rs.1500 crore in ten years?
NPCC said NPF’s “ lie and jingoism” was detrimental to Naga interest, such as- its promise to bring settlement to the Naga issue within three months of coming to power but even after ten years both NPF and BJP “shamelessly blame the UPA government”. Further it said NPF had also antagonised neighbouring states “with its pan-NPC exercise”.
It also said the “Salary Dispensing Agency (SDA) called NPF government has no substance” . NPCC said when the NPF claimed it was running the government with “active cooperation of civil society and mass-based organisations”, it was a “sorry fact that the government is outsourcing its job to Naga Hoho” to collect No Objection Certificates from landowners of oil bearing areas.
NPCC said if outsourcing its work to NGOs and hoho by bypassing district collectors was “good governance”, then “ in NPF parlance, this government has no right to rule the state”.
It said even if NPF “mandate to rule is purchased” it was still duty bound to provide security to its citizens from taxations/ extortions and to promptly release salaries.
NPCC said use of “tired clichés” by NPF that Congress are “agents of outsiders” or “frustrated Congress” to cover up its “deficiencies” cannot fill the “stomach of hungry and scared masses”.
It advised state BJP spokesman Vizo not to “insult or triviailise” serious demands of civil society like ACAUT for asking undergrounds to streamline taxation as this was the “core reason” for price rise and not the falling rupee.
In the light of its allegations, NPCC reiterated its demand for President Rule as the only way to salvage the “present miserable situation” facing the people of the state.
