State Level National Role Play Competition in Kma

State Level National Role Play Competition 2013 organized by Adolescence Education Cell (AEC) SCERT Nagaland was held Friday at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School Kohima wherein parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education & SCERT Nagaland, Deo Nukhu lauded the national role play completion as the bridge between school education and teacher education, SCERT.

He described the role play competition as a co-curricular activity that belong to a category of transactional strategies that has abundant potential to influence the non-cognitive learning.  Nukhu then asserted that these activities strengthen and clarify the context transacted through the curricular approach and provide a variety of learning experience to the students.

He further encouraged the students to make optimum use of studying in a government school and be as competitive as any private school.

Director, SCERT, Vipralhou Kesiezie in his introductory speech enlightened the gathering on the important of ‘role play’ and its impact on adolescents. 

While describing adolescent period as the most turbulent stage of child’s life, Kesiezie said that during this stage the child enters adulthood and undergoes rapid growth in physical, emotional and physiological development, faces a host of problems under peer and biological pressure adding that the child was also likely to experiment smoking, alcohol, drugs and also with sex. 

He stated that the role play thus was the appropriate academic strategy to promote life skills. It may be added that the Role Play for the competition was based on four themes which include ‘healthy relationship among adolescents’, ‘charms and challenges of adolescents HIV&AIDS’, ‘stigmatisation and vulnerability of adolescents’ and ‘causes and impacts of drug abuse.’

Altogether five districts Dimapur, Kohima, Peren, Wokha and Mokokchung participated in the competition.

The winners of the competition were bagged by Peren, Kohima and Dimapur as first, second and third respectively.

The judges for the competition were reader, SCERT, Nagaland, Tuolie Seleyi, research associate, SCERT, Nagaland, Hosheli and research associate, SCERT, Nagaland, Kegwalo.

The programme was chaired by joint director SCERT, Kevi Liegise, special number was presented by Students of Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima and the vote of thanks was delivered by project coordinator, PE/AE Cell, SCERT, Nagaland, Zavise Rume.
