Asserting there were many reasons for Nagas to learn Hindi as Hindi was not only gaining prominence in the international level but also in the state, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Chotisuh Sazo Tuesday said through the effort of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) Nagas would learn Hindi and put it to use in their own favour.

Sazo was addressing the function of the Hindi Pakhwara (Fortnight) Samapan Samaroh 2013 as chief guest at State Academy Hall here Tuesday, organized by TOLIC.

Stating that economic growth rate of the country would make India an investment hub in the next 20 years, he said economic growth trend and the popularity of the language was already working at its favour where companies eying operational and sales expansion in South Asia would recruit people who were familiar about Indian culture and could speak Hindi articulately.

Lauding the AG office for engaging central government officers and staffs to learn Hindi, Sazo said officers working in Nagaland could contribute significantly in popularizing Hindi in the state.

Meanwhile, lamenting that Nagaland was yet to catch up with other states in developmental fronts, Sazo said even after 49 years of statehood, the state was yet to have any national institute.

NLA speaker said unless the state had national class institutes, Nagas would not be able to compete with others on an equal footing as every year state government and parents were sending children outside the state to pursue education, spending crores of rupees.

DGP Nagaland B. Kezo, who graced the occasion as guest of honour, maintained Hindi was a hard language for Nagas, saying whoever misses to learn Hindi language would miss many opportunities as Nagamese would not take Nagas beyond Dimapur.

The celebration was followed by a cultural presentation by students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Kohima, invitee artists and staffs of central government offices of Kohima and NEZCC Dimapur.
