Executive Engineer (EE) Dimapur electrical division has clarified that under Electricity Act 2003, part IXV section 135, theft of electricity was a punishable act.
In a press release, the EE said in this connection, power consumers could approach the department to rectify the cases of damaged seal or meter by-passing so as to avoid the penalty imposed upon by Anti-Power Theft Mobile Squad (APTMS).
The press release also informed that APTMS would conduct regular surprise checking in different areas in and around Dimapur.
