Tsungkam Neo, the premier festival of Yimchüngers tribe was celebrated at Shamator public ground with parliamentary secretary CAWD, R. Tohanba as chief guest, Thursday.
In his speech, Tohanba said Tsungkam neo festival was the most important festival of Yimchüngers and that Tsungkam Neo advocates friendship making, inviting guests, merry making, engagement of all social relation, forgiving one’s enemy, peace, love, unity etc. amongst the people. He said that the Naga as a whole has been recognised all over the earth because of the distinct traditional and cultural practices.
Tohanba said the map of Nagaland has become one of the hot spot for tourist in today’s world because of the richness in traditional and culture practice. He further attributed the credit to able leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio, for giving importance to traditional and cultural values by organising state Road Show, Hornbill festival, etc.
Significance of the festival was presented by Shophu Khupong while short speeches were delivered by ADC Shamator, Yanpvuthung Kikon and YTC treasurer Shamator.
DIMAPUR: Yimchünger community of Chumukedima town celebrated Tsungkam Neo festival Thursday at the Yimchungru Arihako Chumukedima (YAC) treasury. On the occasion, the brief history of ‘Tsungkam Neo’ was delivered by Torupkiu.
