Konyak Union Dimpaur has condemned molestation of one Ponjai of Totok village and “trying to molest” one Ngapnon by one Tsareonthung Lotha (61) of Mungya village, Wokha on April 16 at Chotu Lengri.
According to a release by KUD general secretary N Chingkem Konyak, Ponjai along with her “fellow friends” went to collect firewood at Chotu Lengri when the accused claiming to be the owner of the land snatched the machete from the victim.
KUD claimed that on repeated request by the victim Pongjai to return the machete on humanitarian ground, Tsareonthung on the pretext to return the same molested her and when her friend, Ngapnon, tried to intervene she was also chased after and “tired to molest her too.”
Stating that such inhuman act from an elderly person does not cordon with the Naga society, KUD while condemning the inhuman act in the strongest term has requested the concerned authority to reward befitting punishment to the culprit at the earliest.
Meanwhile, when Nagaland Post KUD general secretary he claimed that FIR was lodged at West Police Station on the same day and that the case now has been handed over to Women Cell Dimapur.
