Implement ESR: AME

Asserting it has failed to understand why provision of engineering service rule (ESR) has been ignored for direct recruitment and why unemployed degree holders have been deprived of the chance to compete, the Association of Mechanical Engineers (AME), Nagaland has demanded that the state government immediately implement ESR. In a memorandum addressed to the commissioner and secretary (works and housing), the AME president Er.Pavito Yepthomi and Er.Akumtoshi Lungkochi pointed out that as per ESR, the criteria for recruitment or promotion of various posts were 60% for direct recruitment and 40% promotion for assistant mechanical engineers, 90% for direct recruitment and 10% promotion for junior engineers (JEs).
Pointing out that it has the right to know why recruitment was not carried out according to ESR, the association asked the government how many post of mechanical overseer (MO) has been advertized during the period of 2003 and the procedure of recruiting MO. Demanding the responsible authority to intervene and provide information of action taken within two weeks, AME warned that failure to address the demand it would be “compelled to address our own grievances legally or resort to our own course of action.”
