NSCN (I-M) has termed the recent reports published in the national and local dailies that Naga political issue was likely to go the Mizoram way as “totally unfounded and baseless.”
In a statement, MIP NSCN/GPRN while reacting to the reports on the possible solution that would emerge from the current political dialogue with Centre, reiterated that solution to the protracted “Indo-Naga political issue” would be on the basis of the “unique history and situation of the Nagas.” This was mutually agreed between the government of India under Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s regime and NSCN on July 11, 2002 and would be “honorable and acceptable” to both the parties/entities, said MIP.
With “due regard and respect” for the aspiration of other peoples in the region, the report of by one Shekhar Datta on May 28 issue of Telegraph under the caption “Mizo truce plan mulled for Nagaland” wherein “Nagaland is likely to go the Mizoram way, 17 years after peace talks began with the NSCN (Isak-Muivah) in 1997,” comparing the “Indo-Naga political negotiated settlement” on the line of Mizo truce was “totally unfounded and baseless,” said MIP.
