Khiamnok village, a new village under Dhansiripar sub-division in Dimapur district was inaugurated by minister for health and welfare (H&FW) P. Longon Friday.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Longon said Khiamnok village was the 44th Khiamniungam recognized village in India, saying there were also 167 villages in Myanmar.
According to Longon, Khiamnok village under Dhansiripar sub-division was the first village of Khiamniungam outside its ancestral land in the state.
He thanked the Phimla village for allowing their land to be purchased and establish it into a village. Minister also thanked Razaphe village and Razaphe Basa and neighbouring villages, saying the new village would now embark upon a new journey of peace and development and also bringing in more oneness and unity amongst the Naga tribes.
Further, Longon expressed gratitude to former chief minister Neiphiu Rio for giving the approval at the cabinet meeting to recognized Khiamnok village.
Terming the occasion as “historic” for Khiamniungam tribe, the minister urged upon his community to immediately start human settlement and start construction works.
Further, Longon sought active help, support and cooperation of all neighbouring villages so new village grow from strength to strength in all fields.
He assured to bring all round development to the possible extent from his side. Minister thanked all the people who worked tirelessly for recognition of the village.
Earlier, the H&FW minister unveiled the monolith stone erected in honour of the village. The dedicatory prayer was led by executive secretary KBCA Rev. Pinglang.
Also, addressing the gathering, MLA Khekaho Assumi congratulated the Khiamnok village for making a good start and good beginning with “right people”. He also called upon all the neighbouring villages to live together so Naga society moved forward.
SDO (D) Dhansirpar, H.Atokhe Aye said it was a big day for Khiamnok village and the community in celebrating the establishment of new village. He stated that new village was sign of development and progress. SDO (C) also acknowledged the founders and pioneers and urged upon the village to maintain peace, unity and harmony amongst the Naga community.
Giving a brief history of the Khiamnok village establishment, village council treasurer T. Thangsoy said that Khiamnok Village was recognized by Nagaland government and was the first ever Khiamniungam village in Dimapur district.
