Standing crops in jhum fields belonging to Saddle ‘C’ Village were reportedly damaged by a mob reportedly on August 7 night. According to a joint press release issued by Yimchungru Tribal Council (YTC) and Yimchungru Union Tuensang Town (YUTT), alleged that a mob from Chendang Village damaged the crops “without any rhyme or reason”.
The incident took place on August 7 at around 11.30 p.m. when some persons allegedly trespassed into the jhum field of Saddle ‘C’ Village with weapons and randomly damaged the standing crops, it said. The two organizations also said competent authorities have failed to take action against the mob. It was also alleged that two persons were abducted but were later handed over to Saddle ‘C’ village authorities. While condemning the incident, YTC and YUTT have now demanded immediate delivery of justice.
