1 expelled for sexual assault
A non-local New Market footpath vendor was expelled from Nagaland for “life” after he was reportedly caught red-handed “molesting” a female customer, Sunday.
The accused was identified as Ahad Uddin (24). The decision was made by New Market Business Owners Association (NMBOA) during a meeting Monday with the Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) and Dimapur Muslim People’s Forum (DMPF). Noting that such kind of person, who had settled in Dimapur recently was damaging the image of the Muslims, the two bodies also resolved to expel Ahad. Ahad had been in Dimapur for the last one and half year only. He started his business at New Market, November last year.
Survival Nagaland flays
Survival Nagaland (SN) has condemned the molestation of a young Naga girl by two alleged Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants (IBIs) Sept 19 while she and her sister were returning home from school. SN urged the village council and district administration to award the strictest punishment. In a press release, SN media cell also appealed to all the parents to be extra cautious in dealing with IBIs.
SN further cautioned individuals, groups or organizations not to bail out the accused. SN maintained that Dimapur Muslim Public Forum (DMPF) should own the moral responsibility of these “anti-social acts” as all these illegal immigrants were allegedly “protected and harboured by the body.”
SN has reiterated its appeal to all GBs and chairmen to stop issuing residential proof certificates for the time being so as to check any further influx.
SN also urged Dimapur district administration to withhold its proposed programme of distribution of Adhaar card for the time being and said that the government should open ILP detection and verification cell which could be jointly monitored with SN volunteers.
While appreciating the massive support the organization got from the public, SN extended its gratitude to all the GBs, chairmen, student leaders, youth organizations of various localities who have resolved to fully support the SN movement.
SN volunteers had recently met Diphuphar council chairman, president and members of Chumukedima Students’ Union, head GB, Tenyimia Students Union office bearers and several Church leaders and youth directors recently where the issue of IBI influx was discussed. Expressing optimism that over one thousand volunteers had joined the movement a week after its launch, SN expected more to join hands with the movement.
