A team of Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) carried out inspection of various departments under Pungro sub-division August 11 and reportedly found out that departments within Pungro Town were non-functioning and negligence of duty by department staffs.
In a press release, YAA president Akuiba and secretary Mosa expressed dismay that many offices have been locked during the office hour.
Some buildings of the departments were completely neglected and many of the staffs were not in station for long and appear only to draw the monthly salary.
It found out that under R.D block Pungro, the peon was in station and the head officers BDO, SO, UDA and LDA etc. remained absent for long. YAA said under CHC Pungro town, medical officer was found not discharging his duty for more than a year and out of two doctors only one was in the station during inspection.
It was also learnt that the centre was still running with PHC facilities with only 12 bedded when it was supposed to be 30 bedded.
YAA pointed out that as per requirements, besides lack of infrastructural facilities, the need for dental doctor was of utmost necessity to attend to general public.
Meanwhile, YAA stated that newly upgraded GHSS Pungro having an enrollment of 60 students was running the classes with only four subject teachers and the remaining subject teachers have not been appointed yet by the government while other secondary schools had been covering their syllabus for selection exam.
YAA has urged the education department (NBSE) to make an alternate arrangement and deploy required PGTs at the earliest.
They also inspected PWD (Housing), (R&B), CDPO, & PHED and found been totally neglected. The organization had also inspected Model Higher Secondary School supposed to be completed by May 2014, which was under-construction. Further, it pointed out that the government servants were meant for the service of the people, as such merely drawing the salaries without duties was against the government norms, which YAA said was ‘a social crime’.
Meanwhile, YAA has also appealed to the higher authorities to strictly monitor proper functioning and immediate stationing of staffs within 15 days from the day of publication. It cautioned that dereliction of duty cannot be compromises and tolerate at any cost, saying it would initiate stern action.
