ACAUT, BAN condemn UDD’s policy

October 10, 2014 | by admin

Against Corruption And Unabated Taxation (ACAUT), Nagaland has strongly condemned what it called the “totally unjustified and monopolistic policy” of Urban Development Department (UDD) directing DMC, KMC and MMC and 16 town councils to instruct all the shops and businesses under their jurisdiction to buy fire extinguishers from only one particular firm based in Dimapur.
In a press release, ACAUT Nagaland media cell also questioned on the basis of UDD’s policy to give the firm – Royal International, Millennium Market, stall no TF 14 (third floor), Dimapur, unfettered rights to monopolize the market.
It could only conclude that some people in UDD were “paid kickbacks” by the firm to frame this monopolistic policy, said ACAUT and pointed out that this was an example of “syndicate and illegal dealership system.”
ACAUT requested DMC to cancel the trade license of the firm if not it would have to pursue a path which may put many in discomfort.
BAN: Business Association of Nagas (BAN) has also condemned the order passed by UDD to buy fire extinguishers from one particular firm.  Terming the directive as “pure and simple market monopoly”, BAN has appealed to members not to comply with such arbitrary and biased dictates, which it said was against the ethics of free market.
