Fire guts down 143 shops in Tuensang

A devastating fire gutted down 143 shops in Tuensang daily bazaar Wednesday night at around 9.30 p.m.
According to police sources, around 143 shops were completely destroyed in the fire while 10 shops were severely damaged.
The fire destroyed clothes, shoes and cosmetic items worth approximately Rs. 7 to 8 crore.
However, there was no report of any casualty or injury during the fire.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained till the time of filing this report.
As the fire started, fire brigade personnel were pressed into service and were aided by residents of the town.
The police, district administration, 23 Assam Rifles and other NGO also rendered help in dousing the inferno.
